Top 5 Reasons to Take a Spring Detox Weekend Retreat
- Break Unhealthy Habits. We all have them and we all know they are not good for our health; sugar, alcohol, excessive coffee, chips – you name it! Moving through a cleanse process allows us to break the habits that get in the way of living up to our full potential.
- Eliminate Nagging Physical Symptoms. Headaches, digestive issues, physical pains, PMS, fatigue, strong cravings – all examples of symptoms that arise from toxicity in the body. Cleansing allows your system to heal, nourish and restore itself to balance.
- Weight Loss. Taking out empty calories, junk food and fatty food will change eating habits for the long term. Stress – from food and life – causes us to hold onto weight (especially around the midsection). Decreasing stress on the system and nourishing through whole foods, allows those nagging extra pounds to fall off.
- Glowing Skin. One of my favorite reasons for doing a detox is the incredible healthy glow that comes every time I finish! Who needs makeup? A cleanse process is the best way to get perfect, glowing, rosy skin!
- Increase Energy. Cleansing allows our organs of elimination to take a rest (especially the digestive tract and liver). This allows the system to renew, restore and function more efficiently. We all know how great we feel after a vacation. Cleansing is like a vacation for the body and organs!
Biographies
Andrea Robertson
Andrea Robertson, founder of Body and Balance: Personal Training and Yoga (www.bodyandbalance.ca), began practicing asana (the physical practice of yoga) in her early 20's as a means to open her tight overworked muscles after years of training for both marathons and triathlons.
Her first experience with yoga lit up her life and offered a method of training in a new way. Her practice continues to evolve by drawing inspiration from many different forms of yoga particularly Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin and Power. She is known for combining strength and power with softness and fluid motion in a creative flow wrapped together with a little yoga humor. All while instilling the importance of proper alignment and smart sequencing to create a balanced practice with both Yin/Yang.
Andrea completed her 200-hour Yoga Alliance Teacher Training in 2004 at a summer intensive program in Ottawa led by Yogi Vishva and Chetana Panwar. Andrea has taken numerous workshops and training over the years but has learned the most from her ever growing students and is currently teaching over 20 classes a week.
Andrea's classes cater for a wide-range of students and include instruction for corporate clients, numerous yoga studios, community centers and has been teaching for the Ottawa Senators for the past 7 years. Her intention is always to provide a fresh creative class geared specifically to her students at hand. Andrea has completed her first Yoga DVD “Yoga for Runners" (2010), available at both Ottawa Lululemon Athletica stores.
